Welcome to our church!

We understand that visiting a new church can often be overwhelming, whether you’re new to the area, returning to your faith, or exploring spirituality for the first time. This page is here to help you understand what to expect when you join us for an in-church service. Mostly… know that you are welcome at East Lemonweir.

A Little About Us

East Lemonweir Lutheran Church is a small, rural congregation established in 1854.  Our present church home was erected in 1874.  We strive to maintain the beauty and integrity of our beloved church.  Yet, we have implemented modern amenities such as a well functioning public address system, air conditioning throughout, and an elevator for the ease of our parishioners.  In its infancy East Lemonweir was a parish of “Norwegian” settlers, who farmed their land.  Today, we are a melting pot of believers, who are mainly retired from teaching, businesses, laborers, and secretaries to name a few.  We are a small congregation that supports each other in their celebrations and adversities.  We meet each Sunday at 10:30 A.M.

Before Service

As you enter you will notice a well maintained parking lot.  As you ascend the steps there is a large double door.  Many choose to use the secondary door at street level, which leads directly to the elevator.  This conveyance will take you either to the church proper or down to the fellowship hall.  In the Narthex the Guest Register, Communion Signup sheet, and Sunday bulletins can be found.  Attendees are welcome in their “Sunday go to meeting clothes”, shorts and t-shirts, jeans, or whatever you are comfortable in.

During Service

The liturgy used is from the Lutheran Book of Worship.  There are a number of good traditional hymns that are used in our worship service.  Also included are hymns from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal.  Usually there are three hymns sung, along with the liturgical responses.  We use an organ for our services.  We offer Holy Communion at the Altar rail on the first Sunday of the month.  On the third Sunday, Communion is continuous, offered from the floor.  A Children’s Message is provided on Sunday’s when we have any youngsters.  Our Pastor delivers very good, thoughtful, text driven messages.
Our services run from 45 minutes to an hour in length.

After Service

We ask everyone to join us for coffee, treats, and fellowship following worship.  A good way to catch up on the goings on in the family, and get to know one another.  Don’t be bashful, at East Lemonweir we have some good bakers!
