Bethany and East Lemonweir are committed to the communities we live in, both locally and globally. Here are a few of the ways our communities are supported. Let us know if you’d like to be a part of the joy that is service.
WELCA is an easy way to say Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
The WELCA group at Bethany and East Lemonweir are very active in both in-reach (internal) ministries of the church and external ministries to the outside communities.
WELCA embraces all kinds of ministries that support our mission of mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
When families find their homes destroyed, or must flee for their safety, soap and a towel rarely make the cut for what they can carry. Arriving in a refugee camp or other place of safety, they are scared, vulnerable and dirty from the travel. Soap, towels, toothbrushes and combs. These simple gifts improve the standard of living for people around the world.
As part of Lutheran World Relief, our congregation donates these items to provide a simple, fun and tangible way to offer comfort to those suffering and express love to our neighbors in need.
The Quilting Ministry at Bethany Lutheran Church has been serving for 20+ years. Since the beginning, our Ministry has completed thousands of quilts for Lutheran World Relief committed to helping people in need around the world and sharing God’s love. Throughout the process our quilters work as a team, collectively and individually accomplishing tasks which come together resulting in the beautiful gift of quilts.
Bethany and East Lemonweir Lutheran congregations have been supporting the food pantries in New Lisbon, Elroy and Mauston in fun and creative ways. These Food Pantries rely on donations of food and money from members of our congregations, from other churches, and from other organizations and individuals.
Each spring Bethany hosts a Salad Luncheon and Silent Purse auction. For a low price, neighbors and businesses in the area stop in for a variety of salads and desserts made by members of the church.
The lunches can be eaten in our Fellowship hall or also available in a to-go box.
Proceeds help with local ministries and it’s a great fellowship opportunity!
Thanksgiving is the greatest time for all to be grateful. Grateful for simply living.
Bethany congregations work with people in our community who are having those hard times but still want to celebrate this wonderful time of year with friends and family. We assist by providing Thanksgiving baskets. Our baskets come with a nice size turkey and all the works to make that meal memorable.
After Sunday services, our congregations like to fellowship and spend time with our church family members.
Coffee, wonderful pastries and you never know what else are waiting for you. Sometimes there is also a “Sundae Sunday”, a rousing game of bingo or even a silent auction!
(There is no Sunday Fellowship at East Lemonweir in June, July and August)
